The scheme is aimed at motorcycle owners who are tired of frequent visits to mechanics, declining fuel efficiency and the maintenance problems that often come with an ageing motorcycle, but may not want to pay the full price of a new bike upfront.
Under the programme, customers can take their old Honda CD 70 to an authorised Atlas Honda 3S dealership, where the motorcycle will undergo a detailed inspection.
The dealership’s technical team will assess the condition of the engine, frame and other major components, along with the motorcycle’s overall mechanical and physical condition. Based on this assessment, the dealership will determine the value of the used motorcycle.
That amount will then be deducted from the official price of a new Honda CD 70, meaning the customer will only have to pay the remaining balance.
The current listed price of a new Honda CD 70 in Pakistan is Rs159,900.
However, Atlas Honda has not announced a fixed exchange value for old motorcycles. The final valuation will depend on factors including the motorcycle’s model year, mechanical condition and overall appearance.
For example, a well-maintained motorcycle with a healthy engine and good overall condition could receive a higher valuation, while a bike requiring major repairs would likely be assessed at a lower price.
The exchange model also changes the equation for customers who might otherwise have to sell their old motorcycle in the open market before purchasing a new one.
Selling privately can sometimes result in a higher price after negotiations, but it can also involve repeated visits, bargaining, payment risks, ownership-transfer paperwork and uncertainty over the buyer.
An authorised dealership, by comparison, offers a more formal route in which the motorcycle is inspected and valued before the exchange is processed.
The programme could therefore appeal particularly to long-time CD 70 owners who want to upgrade without going through the conventional process of first finding a buyer for their old motorcycle and then arranging the purchase of a new one.
