Mushtaq died on August 20 while descending the 7,027-metre-high peak in the Karakoram range. Local mountaineers recovered her body during a search operation and began carrying it towards the base camp.
The recovery team has reached Camp II and is continuing the difficult journey amid fresh snowfall at higher elevations. Officials said the team is expected to reach the base camp on Tuesday, weather permitting.
Earlier, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the search team had located Mushtaq's remains beyond Camp 3 and was assessing conditions before beginning the controlled evacuation to the base camp.
The recovery operation had previously been delayed by heavy snowfall and strong winds. The body was also buried under snow, making it difficult for rescuers to locate and retrieve it.
Spantik, also known as Golden Peak, stands at 7,027 metres and is one of Pakistan's major high-altitude climbing destinations. It is located in the Nagar-Shigar region of Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to the Alpine Club of Pakistan, Mushtaq suffered a serious high-altitude medical emergency while descending the mountain. The prolonged recovery operation was complicated by harsh weather and the challenging terrain at high altitude.
A helicopter had also been authorised to assist in the recovery, with the Gilgit-Baltistan government and Force Command Northern Areas coordinating the operation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was kept updated on the efforts to recover the climber's body.
