The camp aimed to improve access to healthcare for residents of Karachi’s low-income, densely populated and underserved neighbourhoods. Patients were provided with free outpatient consultations (OPD), medicines and other medical facilities.

During the camp, more than 40 patients suffering from cataracts were selected for surgery. According to the organisers, the procedures and imported intraocular lenses will be provided to the selected patients completely free of charge.

Weekly follow-up visits have also been arranged to monitor patients’ progress and ensure continuity of care before and after surgery.

According to an ATI Pakistan spokesperson, the organisation’s Social Services Department, in collaboration with ATI volunteers, is working to activate Shifa clinics established at various locations across Karachi to make basic healthcare more accessible to deserving patients.

The spokesperson further announced that ATI plans to launch initiatives across Karachi under its Honhaar Anjuman programme. These will include artificial intelligence (AI) laboratories, digital skills centres, dispensaries and regular free medical camps.

According to the organisers, the initiatives aim to improve healthcare access for underprivileged communities while creating opportunities for young people to acquire modern technology and digital skills.
