According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the conference reviewed the country’s internal and external security situation and reaffirmed the commitment to maintain a high level of operational preparedness to deal with all threats facing Pakistan.
The forum reaffirmed Pakistan’s right to defend itself against terrorism and expressed its resolve to carry out targeted operations against terrorism originating from Afghanistan.
The ISPR statement said the Taliban leadership facilitating terrorism would be responsible for the consequences of its actions.
The forum appreciated intelligence-based counterterrorism operations by law enforcement agencies and stressed that non military measures should also be strengthened alongside military efforts.
It highlighted the need for public welfare-oriented governance at the grassroots level, effective engagement with the public, elimination of the nexus between terrorism and crime, and improved capacity of the police. These measures were described as being in line with the National Action Plan and the Azm-e-Istehkam vision.
The Corps Commanders Conference also stressed the importance of internal stability and stated that any attempt to create unrest or repeat a situation similar to May 9 would be dealt with decisively and without discrimination under the law.
The forum welcomed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, describing it as an important development for strengthening mutual defence cooperation and strategic relations.
The conference strongly condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and expressed full solidarity with the Kingdom. It also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the protection and sanctity of the holy sites.
The meeting also discussed the situation in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The forum reiterated its support for a just solution to the Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
In his concluding remarks, Field Marshal Asim Munir appreciated the professional capabilities and operational preparedness of the formations.
He directed commanders to further improve intelligence-based operations and strengthen defence capabilities through modern technology, training and multi-domain integration.
Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed confidence that with the full support of the nation, the armed forces remain fully prepared to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security.
