The government maintained that the question of whether the Supreme Court's order had been followed should ultimately be decided by the court.
Speaking on the Senate floor, PTI Senator Ali Zafar moved a motion seeking to present a resolution on judicial supremacy.
He alleged that the government had failed to transfer Imran to Shifa International Hospital, had not constituted the medical board and had effectively modified the Supreme Court's order on its own.
“You may have political differences with the founder, but do not play with someone's health,” Zafar said.
Responding to him, Prime Minister's Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said Ali Zafar should not “appoint himself as the court”.
“Whether the court order was complied with or not — it is for the court to decide,” he said.
Sanaullah accused the PTI of politicising Imran's health and said the government had acted in accordance with the court's decision.
He said Imran had initially been taken to Shifa International Hospital but was shifted to a government hospital at the last minute because of security concerns.
Sanaullah added that the government and Islamabad administration would present evidence regarding the security situation outside Shifa before the Supreme Court.
He also rejected allegations of negligence, saying no negligence had occurred in Imran's medical treatment and none would be allowed.
The Supreme Court had ordered on August 18 that Imran be transferred to Shifa International Hospital for medical examination and treatment. He was instead taken to Pims and later returned to Adiala Jail after undergoing medical examinations.
The PTI subsequently filed a contempt petition before the Supreme Court, alleging that the government's actions violated the court's order.
Gohar says transfer plan changed at last minute
Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said the plan to transfer Imran to Pims was changed at the last minute.
Speaking to journalists at the Dahgal checkpoint on Adiala Road in Rawalpindi, Gohar said whoever changed the transfer plan had acted wrongly.
He said the PTI had been close to making significant progress but its efforts had been undermined.
Gohar also expressed dissatisfaction with the medical treatment provided at Pims, saying the Supreme Court's order could still be implemented if the relevant authorities were willing to act.
He said the government had never informed the PTI about security concerns surrounding the transfer to Shifa.
Gohar said the PTI had itself instructed its workers and leaders not to gather outside Shifa Hospital, following the Supreme Court's directions.
He added that the party's contempt petition had been assigned a number in the Supreme Court and that an early hearing had been requested.
Gohar maintained that the PTI had not violated any court order and described the petition as a civil contempt matter concerning implementation of the Supreme Court's directions.
