According to Dr Uzma, she received a call around 8pm to 8:30pm asking her to reach Adiala Jail. She arrived at the prison accompanied by Imran Khan’s physician, Dr Faisal Sultan.
She said the two were taken to a room belonging to the Deputy Superintendent (DSP), where they waited for Imran Khan to be brought out for his transfer.
Dr Uzma said that at around 12:40am, DSP Sabtain arrived and took Dr Faisal Sultan with him. Around 10 to 15 minutes later, a female Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) came and took her to a small vehicle.
According to Dr Uzma, she was later taken to another room where Imran Khan was present.
She said Imran Khan appeared surprised to see her and told her that it had been around 10 months since he had last met his sister.
Dr Uzma said she told him that he would undergo a follow-up examination at PIMS before being taken to Shifa International Hospital for comprehensive medical tests.
She said ophthalmologist Dr Arif subsequently examined Imran Khan’s eye and asked about the eye drops he was using. Imran Khan reportedly said he could not remember the name of the drops, prompting Dr Uzma to ask the doctors about his prescription.
According to her, a doctor said an immediate examination of one of Imran Khan’s eyes was required. His blood pressure was also checked, after which he was given an injection in his eye.
Government's Position
The government has said Imran Khan was taken to PIMS instead of Shifa International Hospital because of security concerns.
According to the government, a team of specialists, including an ophthalmologist, cardiologist and physician, conducted a detailed medical examination at PIMS.
The government said Imran Khan was declared medically fit following the examination and was subsequently taken back to Adiala Jail at around 5am.
Claims About Jail Conditions
Dr Uzma further claimed that Imran Khan spoke during their meeting about his detention conditions, health complaints and alleged mistreatment.
According to her, Imran Khan said he had repeatedly informed doctors at the jail about his health concerns but alleged that his complaints were not given adequate attention.
The dispute over his transfer has gained significance because the Supreme Court had ordered that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
The government, however, maintained that security considerations prevented his transfer to Shifa and that he was instead taken to PIMS for medical assessment before being returned to Adiala Jail.
