Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a statement posted on X, condemned what he described as “cowardly attacks” targeting civilian and energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, which reportedly injured several people.
“I strongly condemn in the strongest terms the cowardly Houthi attacks targeting civilian and energy installations in Saudi Arabia, which have resulted in several injuries,” Shehbaz Sharif said.
The prime minister expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia and said such attacks put innocent human lives at risk and threaten regional peace and security.
Pakistan also reaffirmed its strong support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said Houthi attacks on civilian and economic facilities in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jizan and Najran had injured 73 civilians, including women and children.
Meanwhile, Yemen’s Houthi fighters claimed they had launched dozens of drones and missiles at Saudi economic and military targets in response to more than 120 Saudi attacks on Yemen over the previous three days.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed that Yemen’s armed forces had carried out a large-scale military operation involving dozens of ballistic missiles and drones. The claims by the Houthis have not been independently verified.
The latest escalation comes amid continuing tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-aligned Houthi movement, raising further concerns about regional security and the risk of attacks on civilian and economic infrastructure.
