Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan said the long march was moving forward according to its planned programme and that participants were continuing their journey peacefully.
He said the participants were not carrying any weapons and added that the long march would continue until the party’s demands were met.
Meanwhile, speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said the government’s doors for negotiations remained open. He urged PTI to set aside personal interests and come forward for resolving the issues through dialogue.
The PTI had launched the long march from Lakki Marwat on October 4 after talks between the government and opposition failed to reach an agreement on key issues.
The convoy travelled through Karak and reached Kohat on Monday.
According to the initial plan, the convoy was scheduled to travel from Kohat to Peshawar on October 6 and move from Badaber towards Charsadda on October 7, with participants from Khyber district joining the convoy at Badaber.
Under the revised route, however, Khyber district has now been included before Peshawar.
The PTI says the main convoy of the first phase of the long march will gather in Khyber on October 8, where the party will announce its future course of action.
The party had announced on Monday that it would continue its march towards Islamabad after talks between the government and opposition remained deadlocked.
PTI has maintained that negotiations cannot take place without a meeting with party founder and former prime minister Imran Khan.
