The company said the new features will enable users to ask questions about their inboxes and documents and receive information through AI-powered conversations.
Google previewed the features during its Google I/O conference in May 2026. The company has named them Gmail Live, Docs Live and Keep Live.
In Gmail, users will be able to ask a Gemini-powered AI assistant questions about information in their inbox instead of relying solely on typing queries into the search box. A live transcript will also appear during conversations with the assistant.
In Google Docs, users can describe what they want to write, and the AI assistant can help prepare an initial draft. The feature can also use relevant information from Gmail, Google Drive, Google Chat and the web to assist with drafting.
Google said Gmail Live will be available to Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers. Docs Live and Keep Live will be available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
