As digital surveillance becomes more common, one person has developed a shirt designed to prevent AI cameras from identifying the person wearing it.
The shirt was created by Simon Weckert, who explained that AI systems use various tools to identify people based on training from millions of images.
According to Weckert, these systems identify people by looking for specific visible patterns, which can also become a weakness.
Known as ‘Digital Camouflage,‘ the shirt has been designed in a way that confuses AI systems and makes it difficult for them to determine whether the person wearing it is actually a human.
Weckert said such a design is important because people can prevent machines from seeing them only when they understand what those machines are unable to detect.
The Digital Camouflage shirt does not look particularly attractive, with its unusual and colourful design making it stand out. However, Weckert said the AI systems he tested the shirt against failed to detect the person wearing it.
