Speaking to the media in London a day before the third Test against England at Lord’s, Babar said the team’s playing combination had largely been decided and the side would be selected according to the conditions.
Asked about the decision to drop seven players after the Lord’s Test, Babar said the PCB would be in a better position to explain the decision. “They must have made the decision after thinking it through,” Babar said.
Pakistan suffered a 194-run defeat against England in the Lord’s Test. Reflecting on the loss, Babar acknowledged that the team failed to produce an impressive performance in any department.
“We accept that we have lost the series, but we want to finish it well,” he said. “As a team, we want to end the series by playing good and positive cricket.”
Asked about the new players included in the national squad, Babar said they should not view their selection as pressure, but as an excellent opportunity to prove themselves.
He said the new players have a chance to make their mark at the international level and contribute to the team in the final Test.
