Rizwan arrived at the NCCIA office in his own vehicle at around 2:50pm, accompanied by two other people.
According to the report, the four-member investigation team asked Rizwan various questions, which he answered calmly. A facial recognition process was also carried out for the deep forensic examination of his mobile phone. The NCCIA had summoned Rizwan for the facial recognition process.
The investigation team completed its questioning at around 6:30pm and allowed Rizwan to leave.
As Rizwan came out of the NCCIA office, media representatives attempted to speak to him and asked what questions he had been asked during the more than three-hour session.
In response, Rizwan said he was not in a position to speak about the matter and asked the media to let him go, saying he was hungry.
When asked how he had been treated during the investigation, Rizwan replied that he had received a lot of affection before leaving the office with his two companions.
What is the case involving Muhammad Rizwan?
The matter between Rizwan and the NCCIA began during Pakistan’s recent tour of England. Following the Test series against England, the NCCIA took possession of Rizwan’s mobile phone.
The agency is investigating various aspects of the matter, including alleged online betting, gambling and the alleged leaking of dressing-room information.
Pakistan played a three-Test series against England. England won the first Test by an innings and 103 runs and then defeated Pakistan by 194 runs in the second Test at Lord’s to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
After the second Test, the Pakistan Cricket Board released seven players, including Rizwan, from the squad for the third Test. The players included Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamer Jamal, Muhammad Owais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad.
Changes were also made to the coaching staff, with Sarfaraz Ahmed and Umar Gul released and Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke given responsibilities.
On September 10, Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq appeared before the NCCIA. According to sources, both players were questioned over the alleged leaking of dressing-room information.
Rizwan also submitted a written response to the NCCIA, asking why he had been summoned and seeking an explanation regarding the non-return of his mobile phone and the alleged violation involved in the matter.
Rizwan later approached the Lahore High Court. The court initially directed him to submit a written response to the NCCIA notice. It subsequently restrained the agency from harassing Rizwan while directing him to cooperate with the investigation.
The court also clarified that a call-up notice issued to an individual does not, by itself, amount to an allegation of wrongdoing.
On October 1, Rizwan confirmed that he would appear before the NCCIA on October 2 and said he had also sought a written clarification from the agency regarding the scope of the investigation.
During his latest appearance, Rizwan was questioned by the NCCIA and the facial recognition process was completed as part of the forensic examination of his mobile phone.
