The decisions were taken during a meeting chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in London, sources said. Sarfaraz Ahmed and Umar Gul will remain with the team for the third Test, but are expected to leave their coaching positions after returning to Pakistan.
Pakistan have already lost the first two Tests against England, including a 194-run defeat at Lord’s that gave England an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
According to sources, white-ball head coach Mike Hesson will oversee the coaching staff for the third Test at Birmingham. He is also expected to take charge of the Test team during Pakistan’s upcoming home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
Sources further said that captain Salman Ali Agha is likely to be released from the squad before the third Test and will return to Pakistan along with Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq.
The reported changes come as the PCB considers a wider overhaul of the Test team and coaching setup following a series of disappointing results.
