In a statement issued on Monday, the PCB said it was internally reviewing the reports appearing in the media and examining the matter according to the board’s rules and procedures.
The PCB said the views of all relevant individuals, along with other aspects of the matter, would be given due consideration during the investigation. The board added that the process is being carried out under its established regulations.
However, the PCB has not specified which media reports led to the investigation. The board has also not named any player or confirmed the allegations circulating in the media.
The PCB has also urged people not to consider unverified and speculative claims as reliable information. The board said some claims were coming from what it described as “hostile external sources” and should therefore be treated with caution.
The board said it would not make any further comment on the matter at this stage. It advised the public and relevant stakeholders to rely only on official PCB statements for information regarding the investigation.
The development comes after media reports emerged about alleged discipline issues and off-field behaviour involving members of Pakistan’s Test squad during the team’s tour of England.
Some reports have reportedly mentioned the names of Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq in connection with alleged off-field matters. However, the PCB has neither linked the two players to the ongoing investigation nor confirmed any allegations against them.
For now, the board has only confirmed that an internal inquiry related to the Pakistan Test squad is underway.
The PCB has not provided official details about the allegations being examined or the individuals involved in the investigation. The board is expected to share further information only if it decides to issue an official statement.
