According to international media reports, the IRGC had earlier claimed that it seized a US submarine in the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian force said the submarine was unmanned and had been deployed in the area for surveillance purposes.
An IRGC spokesperson claimed that Iran maintains firm control over the Strait of Hormuz and would not allow any vessel to pass through without permission.
Iranian officials further claimed that after the alleged capture, IRGC personnel took the submarine with them and conducted a thorough inspection.
The US military, however, rejected the Iranian claim that an American submarine had been captured.

Following the US denial, the IRGC released a video purportedly showing the submarine it claimed to have seized. The footage also included a verse from the Holy Quran conveying a message of victory.
The authenticity of the footage and the Iranian claim regarding the submarine could not be independently verified.
