According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, the IRGC said the vessel was attempting to pass through an unauthorised and dangerous route in the strategic waterway, in violation of a route designated by Iran.
The report said the ship was carrying around 2,500 containers. Iranian authorities also accused the vessel of transporting prohibited cargo.
However, the ship’s identity, the nature of its cargo and whether there were any casualties in the incident remain unclear. No further details about the incident were provided in the report.
