Al-Masirah, a media outlet run by Yemen’s Houthi movement, reported multiple airstrikes in Sanaa and surrounding areas. It claimed that at least four people were killed and several others injured when a residential house was hit.

The outlet also reported that six women and a child were killed and three people injured in a strike on a residential building housing cement factory workers in Sanaa governorate.

Houthi media further reported airstrikes in the western Yemeni city of Mokha and its surrounding areas, claiming that around 20 strikes had been carried out.

Saudi authorities had not immediately issued an official response to the reported strikes or the claims of civilian casualties.

Meanwhile, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition, said two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis towards Taif and Yanbu, a Red Sea coastal city, had been intercepted and destroyed.

Earlier, Saudi Civil Defence issued alerts warning of a potential aerial threat in western areas, including Mecca, Jeddah, Taif and Yanbu. The warnings were later withdrawn.

Pakistan Matters could not independently verify the claims regarding the airstrikes and casualties.

The latest reports come amid renewed tensions and an increase in cross-border attacks involving Saudi Arabia and the Houthis. The Houthi movement has controlled Sanaa and several other parts of Yemen since 2014, while Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognised government since 2015.

A United Nations-brokered truce in 2022 largely halted cross-border attacks, although hostilities have reportedly intensified again in recent months. The prolonged conflict has left Yemen facing a severe humanitarian crisis.
