He shared these views during a conversation on News Insight with Aamir Zia, a program aired on Aaj News, where he spoke openly about the group’s plans and vision for the national airline.

Arif Habib stated that his group has successfully emerged as the winning bidder for PIA and is backed by a strong and well-prepared consortium.

He highlighted that the group has a solid track record of turning struggling organizations into successful ventures, and the same roadmap will be followed for PIA.

According to him, a major portion of the bidding amount will be injected directly into the company, which will help improve PIA’s operations and strengthen its financial position.

He emphasized that PIA employees are the backbone of the airline, calling them ‘our real stars,’ and said their cooperation will be key to making the airline profitable again.

It is worth noting that the Arif Habib Group-led consortium has acquired 75 percent shares of PIA for Rs135 billion. The consortium includes Arif Habib Corporation Limited, Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited, City Schools Private Limited, and Lake City Holdings Private Limited.

During the program, Arif Habib also promised to create a healthier work environment and provide better facilities for employees. He stressed that growth is not optional but essential, adding that without progress, such a large investment would lose its purpose.

Clarifying concerns about assets, he said that while PIA does have some properties, most assets were not part of the deal. He also addressed speculation about other business groups, stating that although Lucky Group is a respected name, success ultimately goes to the highest bidder.

He further mentioned that the consortium is supported by world class advisors and skilled local professionals. Reflecting on the airline’s past glory, Arif Habib recalled that PIA was once ranked among the world’s top airlines, and said their goal is to bring it back on the path to excellence.
