According to a government notification, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs5.20 per litre, while the price of diesel has gone up by Rs5.28 per litre.

Following the latest increase, petrol will now be sold at Rs375.82 per litre, while the new price of high-speed diesel has been fixed at Rs403.32 per litre.

The new prices will remain in effect until September 14, according to the notification.

The latest fuel price hike is expected to put further pressure on transport fares and freight costs, while also contributing to higher prices of essential commodities, including food items.

The increase comes amid continued pressure on household budgets as fuel prices remain a major factor affecting transportation, logistics and the overall cost of goods.
