The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has made it mandatory for sugar mills to install advanced video analytics and GPU-based systems to monitor production. All mills have been directed to implement this system before the crushing season begins; otherwise, they will not be allowed to continue production.
Under this newly introduced digital monitoring system, all sugar mills across the country will be closely tracked through sophisticated video analytics. According to FBR, the system aims to ensure accurate reporting of sugar production and enhance tax transparency. Officials emphasized that the video analytics tracking system for the sugar sector has been developed to meet international standards.
In a parallel move, FBR has also announced measures for the cement industry. Starting November 1, the transportation of cement bags without a tax stamp will be prohibited, and all bags must carry a unique ID marking. According to officials, the track-and-trace system for the cement sector has now been fully implemented, marking a significant milestone in the digital monitoring of industrial sectors.
