In the local market, the price of gold per tola soared by PKR 9,200, reaching PKR 464,762. Similarly, 10 grams of gold climbed by PKR 7,888, now trading at PKR 398,458. This sudden surge marks a remarkable leap in domestic gold valuations, stirring attention among investors and traders alike.
On the global stage, gold also registered a notable increase, rising by USD 92 per ounce to USD 4,424 per ounce. Analysts suggest that a combination of economic uncertainties, currency fluctuations, and rising demand has fueled this upward momentum.
Gold remains a coveted asset in Pakistan, with annual demand ranging from 60 to 90 tons, translating into a market value of USD 8 to 12 billion. However, a striking 90% of this trade still occurs off the books, highlighting the dominance of the informal market.
Experts believe this surge could reshape investment strategies, with gold once again reaffirming its role as a safe haven during turbulent economic times.
