The decision was made during the second meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), chaired by Governor Jameel Ahmad, on Monday. The committee reviewed both domestic and global economic conditions, assessing key indicators before reaching its conclusion.

During the meeting, members emphasized that keeping the interest rate at its current level would help maintain balance in the economy, while further fiscal and financial measures are needed to encourage investment and business activity.

Governor Jameel Ahmad stated that the Bank had carefully analyzed international economic trends alongside Pakistan’s internal financial situation, and that maintaining the current policy rate was deemed essential for the strength and stability of the national economy.

The MPC also discussed the future implications of the monetary policy, taking into account all potential economic challenges. After thorough deliberation, it concluded that no immediate change in the interest rate was warranted at this stage.

This decision represents a key component of Pakistan’s broader financial strategy, designed to curb inflation while fostering a stable environment for sustainable economic growth.
