Aymen made the announcement at a press conference in Karachi alongside senior PPP leader Nisar Ahmed Khuhro. She said joining the party was a matter of pride and represented a commitment to serve Pakistan and its people.
“Since my childhood, I’ve been a big fan of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto,” Aymen said, adding that women who had witnessed Bhutto’s political journey were likely to have been inspired by her.
Recalling Benazir Bhutto’s political legacy, Aymen highlighted her achievement as Pakistan’s first woman prime minister and said her life had taught her that girls should never limit their ambitions.
“That is why I’m here,” she said. The actress stressed that joining the PPP was not merely a political decision but a promise to work for the country and its people. She said she hoped to use her education and professional experience to contribute to Pakistan’s development.
Aymen also acknowledged the influence of her father, who represented Pakistan in cricket for more than a decade, saying patriotism had been an important part of her upbringing.
She expressed gratitude to the party’s senior leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
