The Directorate of Curriculum and Teacher Education has issued instructions for implementing the revised curriculum, while the KP Private Schools Regulatory Authority has directed private educational institutions to comply with the new requirements.
The revised curriculum will cover English, Urdu, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology and Physics for students in classes 9 to 12. General Science will be included only for classes 9 and 10.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board will prepare new textbooks or revise existing ones in line with the updated syllabus. All educational boards across the province will also conduct examinations based on the new curriculum.
Under the revised requirements, textbooks must receive prior approval from the Directorate of Curriculum and Teacher Education before they can be distributed.
Authorities have warned that schools and other educational institutions failing to comply with the new requirements could face legal action under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Supervision of Curricula, Textbooks and Maintenance of Standards of Education Act, 2011.
The new curriculum will apply to matriculation and intermediate-level education across the province from the 2027 academic year.
