Born without arms, Smith drives racing cars using his feet and has already reached speeds of more than 110 miles per hour on the racing track. His biggest dream is to compete in the famous Le Mans sports car race in France.
Smith is able to control the car with the help of a specially designed steering plate that allows him to steer using his feet.
He works as a finance assistant at a company in England and has secured his first driver contract after joining Team BRIT. He has now become the first driver without the use of both arms to take part in car racing competitions.
Smith developed a passion for racing when he was just two years old after watching a bike racing event with his grandfather.
He completed his first track day in July 2025. In April 2026, he completed the 3.66 circuit at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Smith said he was determined to become the first person without hands to take part in racing.
The special steering plate used by Smith was designed by Jim Doran Hand Controls. His left foot turns the steering plate, while his right foot controls the accelerator and brake.
Smith is now hoping to obtain his full racing licence soon and take another step toward his dream of competing in professional motorsport and eventually racing at Le Mans.
