Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, Gulzar said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was continuously being threatened with Governor’s Rule, while the province’s situation should be assessed on the basis of ground realities rather than political pressure. She said serious questions also existed over law and order and government authority in Balochistan.
The PTI leader said terrorist incidents were taking place daily in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including her constituency. She questioned whether the federal interior minister had visited the affected areas to assess the situation.
Referring to the Police Lines blast investigation, Gulzar said the inquiry into the incident had still not been made public. She said the findings were necessary to determine the causes and those responsible for terrorist incidents.
Gulzar also expressed concern over the country’s economic situation, saying people were facing inflation and economic difficulties. She said the focus should be on resolving economic and security problems rather than pushing the country into further political tensions.
On the current political situation, Gulzar said her party did not want confrontation. She said the army and police were national institutions and that PTI also considered them its own institutions. She added that her party’s politics remained within the framework of the Constitution and law.
She also accused the federal government of violating the Constitution and said ignoring constitutional principles would create further uncertainty. She said PTI would not back down from its political position and would continue to pursue constitutional means.
Discussing protests and restrictions in Islamabad, Gulzar said the federal capital should not be blocked with containers and that political issues should instead be resolved through dialogue. She announced that PTI would hold a protest on October 4 alongside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Junaid Akbar.
She said party workers would participate in the October 4 activity in large numbers and that PTI would remain committed to its constitutional position. Other PTI leaders have also maintained the call for the October 4 protest and spoken about resistance in the event of Governor’s Rule or an emergency.
Gulzar said the Constitution remained the fundamental guiding principle of PTI’s political struggle and that the party would continue its political role within the framework of the Constitution and law.
The debate over Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa comes amid ongoing concerns over the province’s security situation, terrorist attacks and political differences between the federal and provincial governments.
