Addressing a public gathering in Gujranwala, Hafiz Naeem said a large number of people had gathered at the historic venue and claimed that there was currently no one speaking up for the country’s problems.
He said Jamaat-e-Islami workers had raised a strong voice against the rulers and described the party as a message of hope for Pakistan’s poor.
Hafiz Naeem said Jamaat-e-Islami had challenged those who had allegedly deprived the people of their rights for 79 years. He blamed a small group for the current conditions of the public, saying it consisted of landlords and influential feudal figures created during the British era.
He alleged that people were still being treated as slaves and said workers were being forced to work without proper safety measures.
The Jamaat-e-Islami chief said children, young people and elderly workers were still forced to work at brick kilns, while the children of influential groups studied at elite educational institutions and exploited the poor.
Hafiz Naeem also alleged that workers employed at Nawaz Sharif’s sugar mills were not receiving their rights and claimed that workers at the mills were not even properly registered.
He said mothers and sisters were also being forced to work and accused Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz of exploiting women despite being a woman herself.
Hafiz Naeem claimed that 6,500 cases of violence against women had been reported in Punjab.
He also criticized Maryam Nawaz over her stay in London, alleging that she was enjoying herself there using public money. He challenged her to disclose the complete expenses of her London trip.
