According to sources, a special task force will be established at the headquarters of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to coordinate action against illegal call centres operating across the country.
The task force will investigate allegations involving extortion, blackmail, gambling and various types of online scams, sources said.
Officials said details of operations conducted against illegal call centres will be submitted to the Ministry of Interior on a daily basis.
Authorities have also prepared a list of call centres operating in Karachi, while all relevant departments and institutions have been directed to provide full assistance to the task force during its operations.
The decision comes days after authorities arrested 284 foreign nationals during a raid on an alleged illegal call centre in Islamabad.
According to sources, the nationwide operation is aimed at identifying and dismantling illegal call centre networks allegedly involved in cybercrime, fraud and other unlawful activities.
The government is expected to coordinate the crackdown through the FIA task force, with agencies and departments directed to support investigations and enforcement operations against such networks.
