In a statement posted on X, the deputy commissioner of Lower South Waziristan said Afghan forces had continued firing at Pakistani border positions in the area.

He said Pakistani security forces responded swiftly, targeting multiple Afghan Taliban posts, mortar positions and defensive installations.

According to the deputy commissioner, Afghan Taliban personnel abandoned their positions and fled following the Pakistani response.

He added that no casualties had been reported on the Pakistani side so far, while security forces remained prepared to respond to any further aggression.

The latest exchange comes days after Afghan Taliban forces allegedly opened fire on civilian homes and Angoor Adda Bazaar on the night of October 27.

One civilian was killed and five others were injured when a mortar shell struck a house in a residential area. Several shops in the bazaar were also damaged, according to the deputy commissioner and security sources.

Following that incident, Pakistani security forces launched a retaliatory operation and destroyed several Afghan Taliban checkposts across the border.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting later said Pakistani forces had destroyed seven Afghan Taliban posts during the operation.

Islamabad has repeatedly called on the Afghan Taliban authorities to prevent militant groups, particularly the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), from using Afghan territory to launch attacks inside Pakistan.
