According to the sources, the operation was conducted in the mountainous Shor Parod range after reports of the presence of terrorists affiliated with the Indian proxy group Fitna al-Hindustan.
Several other terrorists were also wounded during the operation, the sources said.
They added that security forces remain determined to continue intelligence-based operations until the threat of terrorism is completely eliminated from the country.
The development comes three days after at least eight terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan were killed when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) detonated prematurely while being prepared in Balochistan’s Surab district.
In a subsequent operation, security forces detected the movement of terrorists fleeing the area and killed 10 of them, according to security sources.
Pakistan has witnessed a significant increase in terrorist activity, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan.
According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), the two provinces remained Pakistan’s main hotspots for violence during the second quarter of 2026, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa being the worst-affected region.
The report said KP and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related fatalities recorded across the country during the quarter.
More than 61% of the total deaths, or 475 fatalities, were reported in KP, while Balochistan accounted for 34%, with 265 deaths.
KP also recorded the highest number of violent incidents, with 151 cases, representing 57% of the nationwide total. Balochistan followed with 94 incidents, accounting for 35%.
The figures underscore the continued concentration of militant activity in the two provinces.
