The update enables users to create shopping lists, register them, check their contents and add or edit items. Users can also manage recurring subscriptions through Alexa. For example, they can ask the assistant to change an item's delivery frequency from every month to every three months.
The new features also allow users to update delivery instructions, including changing an address or adding specific drop-off details.
Alexa can now answer questions about Amazon Prime and Audible subscriptions. Users can also ask the assistant about billing and payment problems.
Amazon has introduced several AI-powered shopping features this year. These include an AI shopping assistant integrated into the search bar and a feature that alerts users when new products or offers may interest them.
The company said the number of people using its agentic features has increased eightfold since the beginning of the year. It also reported that more than 400 million consumers had used Alexa for shopping over the past 12 months.
The latest update expands Alexa's role in managing everyday shopping tasks, allowing users to handle lists, recurring deliveries and subscription-related requests through voice or AI-assisted interactions.
