Opening batter Sahibzada Farhan has been appointed captain for the three-match T20I series, while fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to lead Pakistan in the ODI tri-series.

The biggest surprise is the absence of Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi from the T20 squad. Babar has been selected only for the ODI tri-series, while Shaheen will also return to the side for the 50-over format.

The 15-member T20 squad includes Sahibzada Farhan, Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Arafat Minhas, Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Nawaz, Muhammad Imran Randhawa, wicketkeeper-batter Khawaja Nafay, Muaz Sadaqat, Naseem Shah, Rizullah, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Shadab Khan and Sufiyan Muqeem.

Pakistan will play all three T20Is against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on October 9, 11 and 13.

The T20 series will be followed by a seven-match ODI tri-series between Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka.

Pakistan's 16-member ODI squad includes Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam, Salman Ali Agha, Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah.

The ODI tri-series will begin on October 18 with Pakistan facing Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. The final will be played at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium on October 31.

The squad changes mean Pakistan will enter the T20 series with a new captain and without some of its biggest names, while the experienced core has been retained for the ODI campaign.
