Shai Hope was the star of the West Indies’ victory, producing a superb and composed unbeaten knock of 162 runs to guide his side to the target and play the decisive role in the win.
The successful chase was the biggest in West Indies’ ODI history. The victory also marked the Caribbean side’s first win over India since 2023.
India, batting first, posted a huge total of 351 runs. KL Rahul led the scoring with an impressive 129, while captain Rohit Sharma contributed 92 and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 57.
India’s batting lineup provided a strong foundation before accelerating in the final overs to take the total beyond the 350-run mark.
Chasing 352, West Indies made a confident start, with Hope anchoring the innings from one end and keeping the required run rate under control. He received valuable support from his teammates as the visitors remained composed under pressure.
India’s bowling attack failed to defend the big total, while missed opportunities in the field also proved costly for the hosts.
Despite the defeat in the final ODI, India won the three-match series 2-1, while West Indies ended the series on a high with a historic victory.
