The attacks targeted key sectors including petroleum, gas, electricity, water and banking. Emirati authorities said the UAE Cyber Security Council has advised companies to remain alert amid the growing cyber threat. They added that the number of cyberattacks had reached 800,000 in April.
According to Emirati authorities, cyberattacks have become a new weapon of warfare. More than 85% of attacks begin with users making a wrong click, while cyber attackers can remain inactive for several months before launching an operation.
