According to international media reports, the organizers allegedly showed unethical and offensive conduct toward Miss Mexico, Fatima Bush.

During the event, Nawat Itsaragrisil, the Executive Director of Miss Universe Thailand, asked Fatima Bush why she had not participated in a promotional photoshoot. At that moment, he reportedly called her “dumb” in English — a remark that immediately disrupted the atmosphere of the event. A video of the incident quickly went viral on social media.

After the footage surfaced, many other contestants described the incident as humiliating and walked out in protest.

Victoria Theilwig, one of the participants, said that the treatment of Miss Mexico went completely against the standards of any international pageant.

Later, Fatima Bush released a statement on social media, saying, “I will not stay silent like cattle. I will keep raising my voice for women’s dignity and respect. No one can silence us.”

Meanwhile, social media users also expressed strong support for Miss Mexico and criticized the Thai executive director’s behavior. Many demanded that he be removed from his position.

In response, the Miss Universe Organization issued a statement saying, we believe in treating all participants with respect. Inappropriate behavior toward anyone is unacceptable.

The organization added that an internal investigation is underway and that measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
