The film, which is scheduled to hit cinemas in May 2028, will feature Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm and Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury, also known as Mr Sinister.
The cast members appeared on stage during the event in Anaheim, where the announcement was among the most anticipated reveals of Disney’s biennial showcase.
‘Frozen 3’ details revealed
Disney also unveiled details of “Frozen 3”, which is scheduled for release in November next year.
The story will pick up as Anna prepares to get married, while first-look footage introduced a new female antagonist whose identity and voice actor have not yet been revealed.
Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, who voice Anna and Elsa respectively, performed a new version of “Frozen Heart”. Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf, also debuted a new song titled “Ooooh, Samantha”.
More Marvel and Star Wars projects
The event also featured first-look footage from “Star Wars: Starfighter”, starring Ryan Gosling.
Disney announced an October 14 release date for “VisionQuest”, a Disney+ miniseries created by Terry Matalas and based on Marvel’s Vision. Paul Bettany will reprise his role as Vision, while James Spader will return as Ultron.
‘Incredibles 3’ and ‘Coco 2’ announced
Pixar Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter announced that “Incredibles 3” is planned for summer 2028.
The film will reunite the superhero family as the children take on a more active role in protecting their city and face a powerful new villain.
Disney also shared details about “Coco 2”, which will take place several years after the original 2017 film. Miguel will now be a teenager and will return to the Land of the Dead.
Benjamin Bratt, who voices Ernesto de la Cruz, appeared at the event and revealed that his character will seek revenge and take Miguel back to the Land of the Dead.
“Coco 2” is scheduled to be released in November 2029.
Docter also announced that an animated series based on the “Kingdom Hearts” video game franchise is in development. The fourth instalment of the game will also feature a world based on “Coco”.
