According to an NCCIA official, both parties arrived with their legal teams and spent several hours recording statements before investigators. Momina Iqbal accused the lawmaker of online harassment, cyberbullying and issuing death threats, while Chadhar denied the allegations and claimed the matter stemmed from a long-standing personal relationship.
The controversy gained attention after Momina shared a social media post tagging PML-N leadership and alleging that she had faced harassment for a long time. She also claimed that attempts were made to suppress her complaints instead of conducting a fair investigation.
Sources said the NCCIA took swift action after the issue went viral on social media and reportedly drew the attention of senior PML-N leadership, including Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Punjab Police also provided security to Momina, according to her sister, Advocate Rimsha Iqbal, who is representing her in the case.
Speaking to reporters, Rimsha Iqbal said obstacles were allegedly being created in Momina’s upcoming marriage and threats had also been directed at her fiancé. She claimed they had submitted evidence against the MPA to the NCCIA and expressed hope for justice.
Meanwhile, counsel for Saqib Chadhar, Mian Ashfaq, said the two had known each other since 2020-21 and were once close to marriage. He claimed his client had supported Momina socially, administratively and financially over the years and argued that the harassment allegations were inconsistent with the nature of their relationship.
Saqib Chadhar won the PP-97 Chiniot seat as an independent candidate in the 2024 elections before joining the Pakistan Muslim League (N).
