Amid speculation that the finale may eliminate several fan favourites, creators Matt and Ross Duffer have addressed the concerns.
Matt Duffer told Variety that the series is not Game of Thrones and said he hopes the ending will still surprise viewers. His remarks follow the release of Volume One of season five on November 26. The final season focuses on the group’s pursuit of Vecna, who was severely injured in the season four finale. The new episodes conclude with Will Byers making an important personal discovery.
Stranger Things is set in the town of Hawkins, where a young boy goes missing and his friends embark on a dangerous search that leads them to Eleven, a mysterious girl with supernatural abilities.
The cast includes Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin and Sadie Sink. They are joined by an older ensemble featuring Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery and Maya Hawke. Winona Ryder and David Harbour also lead the series.
The second volume of season five will be released on Christmas Day and the series finale will arrive on December 31.
