Among the millions of pilgrims who arrived from around the world to perform the sacred rituals of Hajj there is one inspiring story that has touched many hearts. It is the story of Italian revert Muhammad Luca whose journey toward Islam began after hearing the beautiful sound of the Azan during his childhood.
Muhammad Luca is currently in Mina along with other pilgrims performing the rituals of Hajj.
According to Muhammad Luca he first heard the Azan on television when he was 12 years old. He says the call to prayer deeply moved him and slowly settled in his heart. For him this voice became a spiritual invitation to understand Islam and follow its teachings.
After this experience he began studying Islam in depth learning about its basic beliefs and comparing it with other religions. His search for truth and understanding of Islam continued for several years.
Muhammad Luca says he found success in this world and the hereafter through following the true faith and eventually accepted Islam.
He said:
‘After accepting Islam I not only gained a proper understanding of religion but also found a clear direction in life. It was a beautiful and life changing experience that completely changed my understanding of life and death and transformed my lifestyle.’
He further said that Islam gave him respect confidence and peace of mind in society and freed him from the confusion and uncertainty that once troubled him. He says he thanks Allah every moment for this great blessing.
Speaking about the respect and hospitality he received upon arriving in Saudi Arabia Muhammad Luca highly praised the arrangements made for pilgrims at the Two Holy Mosques. He said the excellent facilities and services increased his admiration for the Kingdom.
He added that during these blessed days of Hajj the sound of Azan echoing from the tall minarets of the holy mosques along with the voices of pilgrims chanting ‘Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik’ is creating a unique feeling of devotion and spirituality within him.
