The event highlighted creativity, innovation, and skill in baking, with participants presenting a variety of unique cake designs and flavors.
The competition was divided into two categories, Professional and Student. Twenty three participants competed, and judges evaluated the entries based on presentation, taste, and overall quality. Managing Director Asim Raza inaugurated the event, encouraging participants and emphasizing ITHM’s mission to train skilled professionals for the hospitality industry.
Other senior officials, including General Manager ITHM Dr. Noor Muhammad Awan, General Manager Operations Farhat Hussain Farooq, and Personnel Officer Fawad Awan, attended the event along with a large number of students.
Speaking to a reporter for Pakistan Matters, Fahad Khan, TDCP Media Executive Tahreem Qazi said such competitions inspire young bakers and provide opportunities to enhance their professional skills. When students earn diplomas from recognized institutions and have their work evaluated by professional judges, it not only builds confidence but also helps them gain recognition in the industry, she said. She added that certificates from recognized institutions like ITHM play a vital role in shaping students’ careers and help them be seen as trained and reliable professionals in the workforce.
The winner of the student category said she participates in workshops and courses to improve her skills while experimenting with different cake designs and flavors to further develop her creativity.
Professional participant Aribah Amir said she learned about the competition via Instagram and viewed it as a new platform. Her wedding-themed three tier cake featured a royal white and gold design, with edible caramel French flavor in the bottom tier, buttercream in the middle, and a fondant dummy tier on top. Aribah said she continues her university studies while fulfilling online cake orders and hopes to establish her own brand in the future.
At the conclusion of the competition, winners in both categories were announced. First, second, and third-place participants received certificates, with first-place winners also awarded cash prizes. Participants praised the initiative, saying it not only recognized their talent but also motivated them to further develop their skills and pursue professional growth.
