The Qur’an clearly advises believers not to spread news without proper investigation, and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also warned against speaking or acting without confirmation especially in matters connected to sacred symbols.
In response to the growing concern, the Inside the Haramain team conducted a careful review of the viral image. They consulted specialists who work within the Haram and possess verified knowledge and documented references regarding the Kiswah. After detailed examination, experts confirmed that the image does not show the original Kiswah of the Kaaba.
According to specialists, the size and proportions of the cloth in the image do not match the real Kiswah. Authentic Kiswah panels are so large and heavy that they usually require seven to eight people to carry or move them. In contrast, the cloth seen in the viral image appears small enough to be handled by only three or four individuals.
Experts also pointed out differences in weight, texture, and structure. The real Kiswah is thick, firm, and heavily embroidered with gold and silver threads. Because of its strength and density, it cannot fold or spread lightly on the ground the way the cloth in the image appears to do.
Moreover, the contrast, outlines, borders, and black framing visible in the viral image do not align with the original Kiswah’s sharp and well defined design. Specialists noted that the patterns, borders, and circular medallions were closely examined and found to be inconsistent with authentic Kiswah designs. While replicas can look convincing at first glance, these design details clearly reveal the difference.
Inside the Haramain emphasized that it is their responsibility to avoid unverified claims about sacred matters. Labeling the viral image as the original Kiswah of the Kaaba is inaccurate and misleading. Any conclusion regarding such sensitive issues must be based on clear evidence and reliable sources.
The experts concluded with a prayer, asking Allah to grant the Ummah truthfulness, patience, and caution, and to protect believers from spreading information they do not fully know or understand. In times of fast moving information, wisdom lies not in reacting quickly, but in verifying carefully.
