According to the spokesperson for Pakistan's Foreign Office, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan signed a joint defense agreement named the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement. The agreement was signed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The Foreign Office spokesperson said that under the agreement, an attack on any one of the three countries will be regarded as an attack on all three. The primary objective of the pact is to strengthen the three nations' collective defense capabilities against any aggression and further enhance defense cooperation among Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan.
The spokesperson added that the agreement reflects the three countries' commitment to closer strategic coordination and cooperation in the field of defense.
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Saudi Arabia with a Pakistani delegation a day earlier, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reached Makkah on the day of the summit to participate in the high-level meeting.
Earlier, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had also signed a bilateral defense agreement under which an attack on either country would be considered an attack on the other.
