The prime minister issued the directive during a meeting reviewing the progress, registration process, subsidy payments and implementation of the programme.

Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction with the progress of the scheme and its transparent mechanism, stressing that relief must reach all eligible citizens without any obstacles.

He directed the relevant authorities to take strict action against petrol pumps that refuse to provide subsidies to registered beneficiaries, saying negligence or failure to implement the programme would not be tolerated.

The prime minister emphasised that providing relief to registered beneficiaries was the responsibility of the relevant institutions and petrol pumps. He said licences of petrol pumps violating the programme’s requirements should be cancelled to ensure uninterrupted delivery of benefits.

Over 1.55 Million Citizens Registered

During the meeting, officials briefed the prime minister that a total of 1,551,928 citizens had registered under the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Programme.

The registered beneficiaries include motorcycle owners and individuals owning vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc.

According to the briefing, a total of 63,153,685 tokens had been issued under the scheme, of which 59,445,347 had been utilised.

Officials further informed the meeting that fuel subsidy payments amounting to Rs28.6 billion had been made under the programme as of November 4, 2026.

PM Calls for Transparent and Efficient Subsidy Distribution

The prime minister said simplifying the registration process and subsidy mechanism had increased public participation, allowing more eligible citizens to benefit from the programme.

He described the use of technology to ensure transparent and effective subsidy distribution as a significant development, adding that the initiative could serve as a game changer for future public welfare programmes.

The meeting was also informed that separate call centres had been established for beneficiaries and petrol pumps to provide information about the programme and address complaints.

These centres are helping citizens understand the registration and subsidy procedures while assisting petrol pumps in resolving operational issues.

Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the performance of Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima, Federal Secretary IT Zarar Hashim Khan and their team for developing an effective monitoring system and operational dashboard for the programme.
