Speaking at the closing ceremony of a three-month Chinese language course for the business community, Sun Yan said the upgraded phase of CPEC will focus on key sectors such as industry, agriculture, and mining. He stressed that professionals equipped with Chinese language skills will be essential to maximize trade and investment opportunities, describing language as a critical bridge for business collaboration.
LCCI President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol welcomed the Consul General and highlighted the long-standing Pakistan-China relationship, calling it a time-tested partnership rooted in trust and mutual support. He noted that while China remains Pakistan’s largest trading partner, there is a significant trade imbalance, with Pakistan’s exports far lower than imports.
Saigol emphasized the need for greater market access for Pakistani products in China and urged better utilization of the free trade agreement between the two countries. He identified key sectors with export potential, including agriculture, textiles, surgical instruments, sports goods, and IT services.
He also pointed out that Pakistan offers strong investment opportunities in areas such as renewable energy, electric vehicles, and value-added manufacturing, particularly through Special Economic Zones established under CPEC.
LCCI Vice President Khurram Lodhi appreciated the Chinese language initiative, stating that it would enhance communication with Chinese partners and open new doors for joint ventures under CPEC 2.0.
Sun Yan further highlighted major infrastructure projects like Gwadar Port, Karakoram Highway, and Khunjerab Pass as key drivers of connectivity and trade facilitation between the two countries.
He also noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, expressing confidence that bilateral ties will continue to strengthen and deliver greater economic benefits.
