The revised levy structure came into effect on July 1 and will not affect fuel prices, as the increase in the Climate Support Levy has been fully offset by an equivalent reduction in the Petroleum Levy.
The same adjustment has also been applied to High Octane Blending Component (HOBC), with the Climate Support Levy raised by Rs2.5 per litre and the Petroleum Levy cut by the same amount.
As a result, retail prices remain unchanged at Rs299.50 per litre for petrol and Rs311.47 per litre for diesel.
The changes are part of the government s revised fuel levy framework introduced from July 1.
Last week, the government kept petrol and diesel prices unchanged after announcing a major reduction on June 19, when petrol prices were cut by Rs74 per litre and diesel by Rs67 per litre following a decline in global crude oil prices and easing tensions in the Middle East.
The relief package came after the Iran-US peace agreement and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which helped stabilise global oil supplies and reduce international fuel prices.
Kerosene prices had also been reduced by Rs48.29 per litre to Rs233.90, while its Petroleum Levy remains unchanged at Rs20.36 per litre.
