This firm directive follows a serious corruption scandal that surfaced at Shafiqabad Police Station, shaking the department and triggering immediate internal accountability.
According to official sources, five constables and one duty officer were found involved in taking bribes and were publicly produced in handcuffs before a departmental meeting an act that sent shockwaves through police ranks.
Sources revealed that the accused officials had detained an armed suspect, brought him to the police station, and later released him after accepting a bribe. Once the matter came to light, DIG Faisal Kamran acted without delay. All involved officials were dismissed from service on the spot, and a criminal case was registered against them under robbery related charges.
An important detail emerged during the inquiry, the SHO of Shafiqabad was reportedly unaware of the illegal act. After reviewing his role, DIG Operations did not declare him guilty. However, to maintain administrative transparency, the SHO was reverted and posted to Police Lines Gate-In until the investigation is fully concluded.
Sending a strong message across the force, DIG Faisal Kamran stated. ‘The police uniform is a public trust. Those who misuse it have no place in this department.’
Following this decisive action, a sense of unease and caution has spread across police stations in Lahore. SHOs have been clearly warned that any proven corruption within their jurisdiction will also place responsibility on their shoulders.
