In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations said movement of a group of militants was detected on April 1, 2026, near the border area. Security personnel engaged the group in what was described as a “precise and skillful” operation, killing all eight individuals.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants following the operation.
The statement reiterated Pakistan’s position regarding the need for effective border management, saying the situation reflected gaps on the Afghan side. It urged the Afghan Taliban to fulfil its responsibilities by preventing the use of its territory for militant activities against Pakistan.
Security forces affirmed their continued commitment to safeguarding the country’s borders and eliminating threats.
A sanitisation operation is ongoing in the area to ensure no additional militants remain. Authorities said counterterrorism efforts under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” campaign will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored militancy from the country.
