According to sources, a businessman reportedly collected billions of rupees from national players in the name of investment, promising them high monthly returns. However, neither the promised profit nor the original investment has reportedly been returned.
Sources claim that the cricketers invested their money after being assured of a monthly return of 8 to 9 percent an offer that appeared attractive and reliable at the time. For several months, profits were paid regularly, which strengthened the investors’ trust.
The situation reportedly took a turn when the businessman cited business losses and stopped paying profits. Soon after, the repayment of the principal amount was also halted, leaving the players in deep financial distress.

The total amount involved in the alleged fraud is said to exceed Rs 2 billion, making it one of the most serious financial controversies linked to Pakistan cricket in recent years.
Among those reportedly affected are former captain Inzamam ul Haq, along with star players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Sources also claim that current T20 and ODI captain Salman Ali Agha, as well as Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Asif Ali, Faheem Ashraf, and other members of the national squad may also be victims.
Despite the gravity of the situation, no cricketer has so far formally approached law enforcement agencies to register a case. However, sources indicate that legal action against the businessman is likely to be initiated in the near future.
The alleged scam has raised serious questions about financial awareness among professional athletes and highlights the risks of informal investment arrangements, even for high profile individuals.
