In a statement shared on X, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that PIA was once a proud national asset, admired across the region and known for supporting several international airlines.

He recalled that the airline was not only profitable but also a symbol of Pakistan’s competence and confidence.

He said it is a national tragedy that the same people who ruined PIA through poor management, political appointments, and careless decisions are now celebrating its sale at a throwaway price. ‘First, they break working institutions, then they sell the wreckage and call it success,’ he remarked.

The Jamaat e Islami chief questioned why those responsible for PIA’s downfall have never been held accountable. ‘Shouldn’t the culprits be identified? Shouldn’t there be accountability?’ he asked, adding that the situation reflects the disturbing mindset of the ruling elite.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman demanded the formation of a fact finding commission, alongside the Privatization Commission, to trace all individuals and decisions that led to the collapse of PIA and other once profitable national institutions.

He said these failures have cost Pakistan thousands of billions of rupees and pushed the country deeper into economic stress.

He stressed that without transparency and accountability, privatization will remain a shortcut to escape responsibility, rather than a solution to fix broken systems.
