According to a medical statement issued on Tuesday, Khan—currently incarcerated at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi—was brought to the hospital for the scheduled injection as part of his ongoing eye care.
Ophthalmologists conducted a pre-procedure assessment and found him clinically stable. An Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scan indicated signs of improvement in his condition.
The procedure was carried out under standard protocols in the operation theatre, with the injection administered under microscopic guidance. Doctors confirmed that Khan remained vitally stable before, during, and after the day-care surgery.
He was discharged the same day with follow-up instructions and medical documentation.
Khan has been receiving treatment for Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO), a serious condition caused by blockage of the main vein draining blood from the retina. It is often linked to underlying issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
His health has become a subject of political and legal debate after a report submitted to the Supreme Court revealed that he had experienced significant vision loss—reportedly up to 85 percent—in his right eye.
The 73-year-old PTI founder has been in custody since August 2023 following multiple convictions, which he and his party maintain are politically motivated. Appeals in several cases remain pending.
